Historical assessment of the spatial configuration of the Cantagado Farm, Rio das Ostras-RJ

Historical assessment of the spatial configuration of the "Fazenda Cantagalo," located in the municipality of Rio das Ostras (RJ), based on printed copies of maps from the following periods: 1891, 1947, 1954, 2001, and 2002. The purpose is to evaluate and guarantee the geometry of the polygons contained in the maps, their extraction by graphic methods and analytical georeferencing, adopting official cartographic standards, with subsequent comparison between their layouts over time. A mosaic of metric aerial orthophotographs from 2006 was used as a background and official spatial reference from IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics). Areas in square meters were calculated for each polygon, as well as its perimeter in meters.

Digital mapping aimed at characterizing areas with valuable historical heritage of interest to IPHAN (National Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage). Cartographic bases served as support for locating ground-level photographs indicative of remnants of architectural buildings that tell an important part of the history of this location.
