APL - geospatial applications

This project consisted of Local Production Arrangements (APL) applied to banana production on a regional scale. Organic agriculture has followed, in some cases, production methods with technological innovations in processes and use of bananas. Both the production and commercial transaction of this product can increase its value. The increases applied in recent years in the productivity of resources (raw materials, labor, energy) have allowed special attention to be paid to the competitiveness of producers generated from organic bananas. The creation of the organic banana APL could generate more income and more jobs in producing regions in the state of Rio de Janeiro, as is the case in the Municipality of Casimiro de Abreu. The development and application of organic farming techniques for banana cultivation has allowed an increase in value. Its appropriation by the producer, as well as the development of the means of production on a larger scale. The implementation of institutional coordination mechanisms can effectively reduce indirect costs or transaction costs, increasing economic efficiency and social equity. The organic banana APL, supported by its geographic location linked to the extensive use of Geotechnologies, on a regional scale, promotes generating increasing degrees of sustainability, as it is related to the quality standard in the processes and products generated. The Banana APL approach is a contemporary theme and applicable to the producing areas of São Paulo and Minas Gerais.
